Knowledge of history is important, but not the foundation. Love is the footing on which all good things are built. Our highest calling is to love. We want you, reader, to love your Black and brown neighbors. Whether you know it or not, racial disparities hurt us all, training us to protect our advantages rather than love others, and that mentality reduces us. Real love costs something but pays endless dividends. Indeed, there is no other life that is fully human—fully alive—than a life directed by love.
